All screenplays must be submitted in English or Italian.
Writers can submit several scripts, but each script must be submitted independently. We accept screenplays with more than one author. All genres are accepted. All material submitted to other competitions or contests is eligible. There are no limitations regarding title page content.
All ownership and rights to the scripts submitted to this contest remain with the original rights holders.
The Plot Point International Screenwriting Awards is open to writers from all over the world. Scripts submitted to the competition must NOT have been previously optioned, purchased or produced at the time of entry. If a submitted screenplay becomes optioned, produced or purchased between the time of submission and the end of the judging period, that screenplay will no longer be eligible. Entry fees are non-refundable.
Scripts must be submitted in PDF format.
Feature Scripts must be between 60-140 pages in length.
TV Scripts must be between 40-80 pages in length.
Short Scripts must be between 1-40 pages in length.
Anything outside that page range will not be considered for the competition.
The Deadlines for the 3rd Plot Point Awards are:
- Super Early Bird Deadline: October 3, 2022
- Early Bird Deadline: November 2, 2022
- Regular I Deadline: December 2, 2022
- Regular II Deadline: January 2, 2023
- Late Deadline: February 2, 2023
- Final Deadline: July 31, 2023
Winners will be announced on October 31, 2023. The judges’ decision is final.
The winners agree to allow Plot Point Awards to use their name and script title on the website. If a writing team is chosen as a winner, prizes will be given to the person who submits the project. Each team is responsible for dividing or sharing the prize money.
Writers must be 18 years of age or older at the time of submission.
All submissions must be original, and the sole property of the applicant(s). If based upon another person’s life or upon a book or other underlying work, the applicant(s) must secure any necessary rights to make such adaptations. However, it is not necessary to submit the adaptation or rights agreements to the Contest.
By submitting the script, the applicant agrees to indemnify, hold harmless, and defend the screenwriting contest, its directors, representatives, and affiliates from any liability, claims, and damages in connection with the submission and from any fees and expenses, including but not limited to reasonable attorneys’ fees, that any of them may incur in connection therewith.
Plot Point Awards reserves the right to reject or disqualify any ineligible entries, without a refund. All screenplays will be reviewed by the festival staff, but due to the high volume of entries, we will not be able to provide feedback. Plot Point Awards has no obligation to disclose any information about the Identities of readers or judges. The opinions of the readers are their own and do not reflect the opinions of Plot Point Awards.
We do not accept hard copies submissions by mail. Plot Point International Screenwriting Awards reserves the right to make any necessary changes to deadlines, dates, rules, and scheduling. Cash prizes must be collected within 90 days after the official communication.
